Due of its famous ceramics, our village is a popular tourist destination. Especially in the high season you will encounter columns of cars and here and there a tourist bus.

Parking is limited and dangerous situations arise. Motorbikes, cyclists, children, dogs without a leash and also combine harvesters or tractors.

Please, behave carefully!

And no, Maříž is not an open-air museum. Not everywhere is it allowed to enter, imagine someone entering your kitchen and admiring your cupboard.

It's 2025 and the village of Maříž is without a proper water supply, sewage and wastewater treatment plant. Without a permanent mobile telephone signal and we can only dream of fixed internet. Instead, we have leaky roads and not only the village square is overgrown.

The city administration's argument is that there are only 15 registered permanent residents here.

But there are over 60 home and land owners and new buildings are being built.

There is still much to improve here.

The castle park is unfortunately neglected. You will be greeted by a sign placed by the Slavonice Town hall:  ‚Enter only at your own risk!‘

The avenue of  already sick larches which are more than a century-old, once served as the access road to the estate from Austria via Fratres, but has now become an adventure.

In the primeval forest, in the dense undergrowth, you can come across a group of 300-year-old oaks.

In the canal below the castle, boats used to sail. All that remains now is an overgrown meadow.

In the Castle Pond, as in the other four nearby ponds, you can swim only at your own risk.

At one time, a group of beavers took lived there, some of which were eliminated with the permission of the authorities, the others emigrated.

Red kites have recently nested here.

The scheme of unnamed, very similar surnames amuses us and makes us slightly nervous. Who invests in what and what will it bring to the future of a remote village on the very edge of the Republic?

So let's all stay alert!

A new chance has been the establishment of the Settlement Committee. Let's hope for improved communication with the city. There are plenty of ideas and objections.
